It is no accident that art is part of the words heart and earth. The root letters ar come from a pre historic language known as Proto-Indo-European that are the foundations for many languages including German, English, Latin, Albaian, Russian and ancient Sanskirt. The root ar means "To fit together." Language tells us who we are and how we use language is also indicitive our belief system. What our Ancient Ones knew was the profound connection between the Heart, living upon the Earth and the making of art. These words formed a sacred constellation. they reflect a time when art was not separated and carved out of daily life, but woven into the fabric of our beings, our rituals and our communities. In many cultures what we know as "art" was so intergral to daily life that language did not refllect a separate word for the activity. By necessity, by the fragmentation of our society, and the effects there of, we turn to face this older wisdom. Thank you, To'-Ree'-Nee' Wolf.
